The annual Northern Territory History Colloquium is on again, showcasing new research into northern Australia’s fascinating history.
Presentations include histories of pioneer Greek settlers in Darwin; the mystery surrounding the pistol apparently used to capture the first Japanese prisoner of war on the Tiwi Islands; the arrival of East Timorese asylum seekers in Darwin in 1995; historical burning in Kakadu National Park and the fascinating story of the bravery of Miss Cissy McLeod in rescuing her foster mother who had fallen from the town jetty in 1912. For lovers of Territory history, this event is not to be missed!
